CITY POWER SEIZES R350,000 WORTH OF STOLEN CABLE IN RABIE RIDGE

City Power’s ongoing crackdown on illegal electricity connections has yielded a major breakthrough in Rabie Ridge Extension 5.

On Tuesday, 16 September 2025, officials seized 2,000kg of stolen aluminium cable valued at approximately R350,000.

The recovery marks a significant step in safeguarding Johannesburg’s electricity infrastructure and reducing the impact of illegal connections on communities.

City Power has warned that illegal connections and cable theft not only cause widespread power outages but also put lives at risk. The utility has vowed to continue intensifying operations across the city.
