ATTEMPTED CASH-IN-TRANSIT ROBBERY NEAR MALL OF THEMBISA

There was chaos near Mall of Thembisa following an attempted Cash-In-Transit (CIT) robbery on the R562 on Saturday, 18 October 2025.

According to initial reports, a CIT van came under attack and sought refuge at Mall of Thembisa. The van’s tyres were damaged during the attempted robbery.

Law enforcement agencies swiftly responded to the scene, and investigations are currently underway.

It is further reported that three vehicles crashed on the R562 towards Winnie Mandela around the same time. However, police have not yet confirmed whether the accidents are linked to the attempted CIT robbery.

No injuries have been reported, and no cash was taken during the incident.
