The African National Congress (ANC) appears to have lost three (3) of the seven wards across Greater Ivory Park following Wednesday’s Local Government Elections, according to credible voting-station results received by KAE News.

The results suggest that the EFF, ActionSA and DA have each gained a ward previously held by the ANC.

WARD 77 – IVORY PARK

Gideon Khomandlela Shikhathi (EFF) is expected to become the new ward councillor, replacing ANC councillor Yoliswa Twala.

WARD 92 – KAALFONTEIN & MIDRAND

Phumlani Moses Mbatha (DA) is expected to become the new ward councillor, with the DA reportedly defeating the ANC’s Violet Chauke, a former councillor who was seeking a return to office.

WARD 111 – EBONY PARK & KAALFONTEIN

Lebohang Precious Botsana (ActionSA) is expected to become the new ward councillor, replacing ANC councillor Nontutuzela “Dudu” Supe.

Meanwhile, the ANC is retaining Wards 78, 79, 80 and 133.

Beyond KAE’s seven core wards, ActionSA won Ward 110, while the DA is leading in Wards 93, 112 and 132.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR KAE?

In 2021, the ANC won all seven KAE wards. If these latest results are confirmed, the party will retain four wards and lose three to opposition parties.

The changes could bring new political leadership to Ivory Park, Ebony Park, Kaalfontein and surrounding communities.

KAE News will continue monitoring the IEC’s verification process and publish the official results once declared.
