IPTA TREASURER LEFA MATEMANA TO BE LAID TO REST
The final farewell for the late Ivory Park Taxi Association (IPTA) Treasurer General, Mr. Lefa “Ngwato” Matemana, will take place on Saturday, 14 June 2025, in his hometown of Burgersfort, Limpopo.
The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 07:00, with proceedings expected to include a packed programme of tributes from family, industry leaders, and community representatives.
Mr. Matemana, who tragically lost his life in a hail of bullets in Midrand on 04 June 2025, was remembered this week during a moving memorial service at Gallagher Convention Centre, where mourners gathered to honour his memory.

A LIFE REMEMBERED: OBITUARY
Teleki Tebnor Matemana, famously known as Lefa Matemana, is a firstborn of the late Makgatlapetjie John Matemana and the late Makgobokele Lucy Matemana.
Lefa was born on the 9th of March 1975 at GaMphahlele Seleteng Village. He started his schooling in 1981 at Patoga Primary School. In the following year (1982) he went to Mmutle Primary School to do his Sub B. He further proceeded to Setlamorago Primary School to do his Standard 1. In 1984, he went to Diphala Primary School where he completed his Primary School Education.
In 1988, he started his Standard 6 (Grade 8) at Ntoampe High School, until he completed his Matric in 1993. In the year 1994, he went to start his Secondary Teaching Diploma at Dr CN Phatudi College of Education.
Ngwato obtained his Teachers Diploma Certificate in 1997. In 1998, Lefa moved to Midrand where he pursued his passion for cars and transportation. From having started as a taxi cab owner, Lefa worked his way up to become a respected businessman where he founded Kopjane Holdings Pty Ltd and Lefa Tours. Through hard work, vision and a strong commitment he created opportunities to many. He was not only a leader, but also a mentor to countless colleagues and aspiring entrepreneurs.
In 2017, IPTA appointed him as Secretary General until 2021. In 2021 IPTA appointed him again but this time as a Treasurer until 2025. In April 2025, IPTA reappointed again as a Treasurer until now.
Beyond his professional achievements, Lefa was a man of deep love and loyalty. Lefa married the love of his life in 2011, Mahlaola Matemana where they got blessed with three kids, Kutloano (19), Onkarabile (13) and Ditebogo Kganya (8). He cherished his family above all else – a devoted father, a loving brother and pillar of strength for those who knew him. His children were his pride and joy.
Lefa had a profound love for his community. He believed in uplifting others and was always ready to lend a helping hand and providing support, whether through employment, advice or acts of kindness. His generosity and commitment to the well-being of others earned him great respect and admiration.
Teleki Tebnor Matemana met his untimely passing on the 4th of June 2025. He leaves behind his wife, daughter, 2 sons and siblings.
