20 SCHOOLS RECEIVE WATER TANKS AND INVERTERS
Twenty schools in the Johannesburg East District have received water tanks and inverters through a Mandela Day donation aimed at helping schools cope with water and electricity disruptions. The handover took place at Eqinisweni Secondary School in Ivory Park.
Twenty (20) schools in the Johannesburg East District have received a boost to help address water and electricity challenges following a donation from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Johannesburg and China National Building Material (CNBM) International South Africa.
The handover took place on Saturday, 18 July, at Eqinisweni Secondary School in Ivory Park, where Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Lebogang Maile joined Chinese Consul General Pan Qingjiang to officially hand over the equipment.
The donation, made in commemoration of Nelson Mandela Day, includes 20 water tanks with pumps and accessories as well as 80 inverters. It is intended to provide interim relief to schools affected by ongoing water and electricity supply disruptions while supporting teaching and learning.
The initiative also forms part of MEC Maile’s “It Takes A Village To Raise A Child” campaign, which encourages partnerships between government, communities and the private sector to improve education across Gauteng.

The donation is expected to help schools better manage service interruptions while creating a more stable learning environment for thousands of learners.
