MANHUNT IS ON FOR COP KILLERS IN IVORY PARK

A massive manhunt is under way after two (2) Ivory Park SAPS officers were shot and killed while on duty in Ivory Park on Friday night, 28 November 2025.

The attack happened at around 19:30 in Ivory Park Ema 9 (behind the Ivory Park Police Station) near a local spaza/tavern, where three (3) unknown gunmen ambushed the officers during routine patrols.

According to police, one officer was shot inside the police van, while the other was gunned down inside the spaza/tavern. The suspects then robbed the officers of:
• Two cellphones
• Two service pistols
• One R5 rifle

The victims are a Constable and a Sergeant and were declared dead on the scene. Both are male.

Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lt-Gen Tommy Mthombeni arrived at the scene along with other senior officials and expressed heartfelt condolences to the families, colleagues, and the entire SAPS community.

Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko called on the public to help track down the killers.

“Anyone with information that may assist with the investigation may contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or send anonymous tips via the MySAPS App.”

The case has now been officially handed over to the DPCI (Hawks) as per SAPS protocol for police murders.

GROWING ATTACKS ON POLICE IN GAUTENG

This latest attack adds to the worrying spike in police killings across the province:
• Jabulani Thabang Moyo, wanted for the murder of 2 Roodepoort police detectives on 8 August 2025, is still on the run.
• A police officer was shot and killed while patrolling Swazi Inn, Ivory Park on 5 October.
• Another SAPS member from Norkem Park was gunned down in Birch Acres on 29 October during a business robbery.

No arrests have been made in these cases.
