IVORY PARK SECONDARY SCHOOL RAPE CASE POSTPONED TO JULY 3
Ivory Park Secondary School mathematics teacher Edward Steven Zunguza, who is accused of rape, appeared before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on 6 May 2026, where the matter was postponed to 3 July 2026.
The postponement is pending a forensic report compiled by a social worker.
Zunguza is accused of allegedly raping a 17-year-old learner from the school in an incident said to have taken place on December 2025.
During his formal bail application on 17 March 2026, the accused denied the allegations and informed the court that he intends to plead not guilty.
He also told the court that he is fully cooperating with the investigating officer handling the case.
In his affidavit, Zunguza stated that he would not attempt to contact the complainant, her guardian, or any witnesses connected to the matter.
He further maintained that he does not pose a danger to the community.
The State informed the court that the complainant did not oppose bail.
The accused remains out on bail under strict conditions, including:
- He may not directly or indirectly contact the complainant, her family, or witnesses
- He is prohibited from coming within 50 metres of Ivory Park Secondary School
- Any violation of the bail conditions may result in his immediate arrest
Zunguza remains out on bail and is expected to return to the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on 3 July 2026 as investigations continue.
