Two (2) men have been arrested in Kempton Park after an EMPD traffic stop allegedly uncovered immigration violations, an attempted bribe and more than 1kg of suspected dagga.
According to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), officers from the Overload Unit stopped a blue Renault Kwid with two occupants while patrolling along Greyilla Avenue and Noordrand Road on Tuesday, 29 September 2026.
The 28-year-old driver, described by EMPD as a foreign national, allegedly failed to produce a valid passport and work permit. Officers also established that he was operating as an e-hail driver without the required operating permit or licence.
During the interaction, the driver allegedly offered officers R350 in an attempt to bribe them. He was immediately arrested.
A search of his 26-year-old passenger allegedly uncovered approximately 1.015kg of suspected dagga, packaged in several zip-lock bags.
EMPD officers also recovered R1,600 in cash, which they suspect could be proceeds from the sale of dagga.
Both men were arrested and detained at Kempton Park Police Station.
They are expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.
