SUSPECT ARRESTED IN LIMPOPO FOR MURDER OF WOMAN FOUND AT TEMBISA CEMETERY
Police have arrested a suspect in Mohlabaneng Village, Limpopo, in connection with the murder of Ntombifuthi Nxumalo, whose body was discovered at Mooifontein Cemetery in Tembisa.
A suspect has been arrested in Limpopo in connection with the murder of Ntombifuthu Nxumalo, whose body was discovered at Mooifontein Cemetery in Vusimusi Section, Tembisa, on Saturday, 26 September 2026.
Nxumalo was found naked with serious injuries to her head. Stones were reportedly found around her body, although the exact circumstances and cause of her death remain subject to the police investigation.
Preliminary investigations established that Nxumalo had reportedly been drinking at a local tavern with a female acquaintance before leaving the establishment in the company of a man.
Residents living near the cemetery reportedly told investigators that they heard a woman screaming and pleading for her life at approximately 23:00.
Police initially traced the suspect to an address in Tembisa, but investigators subsequently established that he had travelled to Limpopo.
A multidisciplinary team comprising Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence, Tembisa South Detectives and SAPS Head Office Investigation Psychology Services (IPS) followed the information to Mohlabaneng Village in Limpopo.
With assistance from SAPS Bolobedu, officers located the suspect asleep in his room and arrested him.
The Gauteng Provincial Commissioner has commended the multidisciplinary team for the investigation and swift arrest.
Nxumalo’s death had brought the number of women’s bodies discovered across Ekurhuleni since July to 10.
Of the 10 bodies, 4 suspects are now behind bars.
Police have not confirmed that the 10 deaths are linked, and the cases should not be treated as the work of the same perpetrator unless investigators establish such a connection.
Investigations are continuing.
Nxumalo leaves behind four (4) children. Our condolences go out to her family and friends.
