crime stats

Ivory Park Police Station remains one of the country’s high-volume crime stations, despite some categories showing improvement in the latest SAPS crime statistics.

The latest figures cover the fourth quarter of the 2025/2026 financial year, from January to March 2026. Nationally, serious community-reported crimes decreased by 4.4%, while Gauteng recorded a **5.2% decrease. However, Gauteng still contributed 26% of all serious crimes reported in South Africa during the period.

IVORY PARK RANKED 17TH NATIONALLY FOR SERIOUS CRIME

Ivory Park recorded 1,407 serious community-reported crimes between January and March 2026.

This is an increase from 1,273 cases recorded during the same period in 2025, meaning the station recorded 134 more cases, a 10.5% increase.

This placed Ivory Park:

  • 17th nationally
  • 5th in Gauteng

for the community-reported serious crimes.

CONTACT CRIMES DROP, BUT IVORY PARK STILL RANKS HIGH

Contact crimes, which include murder, attempted murder, rape, assault, robbery and carjacking, decreased slightly at Ivory Park.

The station recorded 732 contact crime cases, down from 757 in the same period last year.

That is a decrease of 25 cases, or 3.3%.

However, Ivory Park still ranked:

  • 11th nationally
  • 2nd in Gauteng

for contact crimes, showing that violent crime remains a serious concern in the area.

CARJACKINGS STILL A MAJOR CONCERN

Ivory Park remained among the country’s worst-affected stations for carjacking.

The station recorded 47 carjacking cases between January and March 2026, down from 67 in the same period last year.

This is a decrease of 20 cases, but Ivory Park still ranked:

  • 6th nationally
  • 3rd in Gauteng

for carjacking.

This means motorists in Ivory Park remain highly exposed, especially around residential streets, taxi routes and main roads.

RAPE AND SEXUAL OFFENCES REMAIN WORRYING

Ivory Park recorded *53 sexual offence cases, up from *47 last year, placing the station 14th nationally and 2nd in Gauteng for sexual offences.

For rape specifically, Ivory Park recorded *45 cases, up from **38. The station ranked *12th nationally and 2nd in Gauteng for rape cases.

This is one of the most concerning trends in the latest figures.

KIDNAPPING ALSO HIGH

Ivory Park was also ranked high for kidnapping, recording *52 cases, compared to *51 in the same period last year.

This placed the station:

  • 3rd nationally
  • 3rd in Gauteng

for kidnapping.

WHAT THE NUMBERS TELL US

The latest crime statistics show a mixed picture for Ivory Park.

On one hand, contact crimes and carjackings decreased. On the other hand, overall serious crime, rape, sexual offences and kidnapping remain extremely high.

The key takeaway is clear: Ivory Park is still one of the most crime-pressured policing areas in Gauteng and South Africa.

While some decreases are encouraging, the station’s national and provincial rankings show that residents continue to face serious safety challenges.

COMMUNITY SAFETY MUST REMAIN A PRIORITY

The figures call for stronger visible policing, faster investigations, improved crime intelligence, and more community involvement.

For Ivory Park, the concern is not only whether crime goes up or down in one quarter, but the fact that the station continues to appear in the country’s top crime rankings.

Crime prevention in Ivory Park must remain a priority for SAPS, law enforcement partners, community policing structures and residents.
