A 37-year-old mathematics teacher from Ivory Park Secondary School in Midrand has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a 17-year-old matric learner.

The suspect was arrested by members of Norkem Park SAPS in Birchleigh North on Wednesday, 04 March 2026, after he was reportedly found hiding at his brother’s residence.

According to information received by KAE News, the educator had allegedly gone into hiding after learning that police were searching for him in connection with the case.

Sources indicate that the teacher did not report for duty at the school on Tuesday and Wednesday, raising concern among staff before police eventually tracked him down.

Police have confirmed that the suspect is facing a rape charge involving a teenage matric learner.

The accused is expected to appear in court soon, while investigations into the matter are ongoing.
