ActionSA’s Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate, Xolani Khumalo, has won Ward 6 in Tembisa, securing a place in the incoming City of Ekurhuleni council as his party seeks greater political influence in the metro.

According to the latest IEC-derived ward results, ActionSA received 2,115 votes (35.7%), defeating the ANC, which secured 1,915 votes (32.3%).

All seven voting districts in Ward 6 have reported their results.

The ward covers sections of Tembisa, including Endulweni, Isithame, Igqagqa, Emkatini, Esiziba and Ibazelo.

HOW IS ACTIONSA PERFORMING ACROSS EKURHULENI?

The latest available provisional ward-ballot count places ActionSA third in the metro:

DA: 141,835 votes (29.6%)

ANC: 107,216 votes (22.4%)

ActionSA: 81,296 votes (17.0%)

At the time of this update, 391 of Ekurhuleni’s 653 voting districts had reported, with 18 of the municipality’s 112 wards fully counted.

These figures remain provisional and will change as counting and verification continue.

WILL KHUMALO BECOME MAYOR?

Winning Ward 6 makes Khumalo a councillor-elect, but does not automatically make him mayor.

The next Ekurhuleni mayor will be elected by the incoming municipal council, based on the final distribution of seats and any political agreements between parties.

Khumalo’s ward victory gives ActionSA a foothold in Tembisa as the party competes for a stronger role in governing Ekurhuleni.

KAE News will continue monitoring the results as the IEC completes its verification and declaration process.
