GAUTENG UNVEILS NEW NUMBER PLATES TO FIGHT CRIME AND VEHICLE FRAUD
The Gauteng Provincial Government has officially launched a new tamper-proof, technology-driven number plate system as part of its continued efforts to fight vehicle-related crime, fraud, and improve road safety. The cutting-edge system, which will be piloted over the next six months, was unveiled today by Premier Panyaza Lesufi.
The new provincial vehicle registration plates feature advanced security enhancements, including a QR code and a tamper-evident decal making it harder for criminals to clone, swap, or forge plates.
