GDE ONLINE ADMISSIONS OPEN!
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has officially launched the Online Admissions System for the 2026 academic year today, Thursday, 24 July 2025, starting at 08:00. Applications will be accepted through midnight, 29 August 2025.
📋 Who Should Apply?
• Parents of children entering Grade 1 in 2026 (including those moving from Grade R to Grade 1)
• Parents of learners entering Grade 8 in 2026
➡ Note: Applications for other grades must be done directly at schools, not through the online portal

🔐 How to Apply
1. Register a new profile on gdeadmissions.gov.za—old profiles or previous login details will not work 
2. Create a username and password, accept the POPI disclaimer, read and agree to Terms and Conditions, and fill in accurate ID and contact details 
3. Submit the 5-step application form (including uploading required documents). Incomplete profiles won’t be considered .
4. Upload supporting documents within 7 days, as prompted by the system 
5. Use a valid cellphone number—you’ll receive SMS alerts for confirmations and reminders

🏡 Choosing Schools and Feeder Zones
• Select 3–5 schools—including those in your home’s feeder zone—to boost placement odds closer to home .
• All participating schools remain open for applications until the closing deadline, 29 August.

• Applications close at midnight on 29 August 2025—no late submissions 
• No fees associated with the process. Beware of scams promising guaranteed placement for payment—GDE assistance is completely free
