ABAHAMBE PROTESTS EVERY THURSDAY UNTIL DECEMBER
The Abahambe movement has announced nationwide anti-illegal immigration marches every Thursday until December 2026, while businesses fear the economic impact of repeated demonstrations.
The prospect of weekly anti-illegal-immigration marches over the next six (6) months has raised fear amongst the business community.
The concerns follow March and March movement leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma’s announcement that the organisation would hold weekly nationwide marches every Thursday until the government addressed its concerns about undocumented immigrants.
Ngobese-Zuma made the announcement at a march in Durban on 30 June, which drew thousands of supporters and brought parts of the Durban CBD to a standstill.
Addressing supporters, Ngobese-Zuma said the movement would not back down.
“As March and March movement, we are announcing something brand new that is going to happen in the next six months. This will definitely need the government to always have a budget of R600 million. From now onward, in the whole country, for as long as undocumented foreigners are among us, we will march every Thursday.”

The announcement was met with loud cheers from supporters gathered at Point police station.
Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia had stated that a R600 million security budget had been set aside for policing the 30 June demonstrations.
The security operation focused largely on identified hotspot areas in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Western Cape to prevent violence and maintain public order.
Ngobese-Zuma said the first of the planned weekly demonstrations would take place on 9 July and would continue until the government acted against undocumented immigrants.
“We hope that the government has a budget of R600 million to cover all these Thursday marches.” said Ngobese-Zuma.
During the 30 June march, many foreign owned businesses in KAE closed their doors long before protesters arrived, fearing possible violence, looting or intimidation.

“We didn’t make any money last week Tuesday. Meanwhile, rent still has to be paid, electricity still has to be paid, employees still expect salaries, and stock continues sitting on shelves.” said one “my friend” who spoke to KAE News on condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile, another anti-illegal immigrant group going by the name Khutsong Independent Action Forum is also planning a March on Thursday, 09 July 2026, in Ivory Park. The protesters will gather at Ivory Park Ext 3, Mahlangu Sports Ground.
