Rabie Ridge: August 16 – August 20, 2025
What to Expect
City Power technicians will visit homes to audit meters and ensure accurate readings. This program runs from August 4 to August 26, 2025.
Residents are urged to cooperate and allow technicians access to complete their work efficiently. If unavailable, contact details for the SDC team leader will be provided.
Verification: All City Power employees and contractors carry color-coded ID cards with photos, personal details, a verification number, and a firefly hologram. Verify their identity by contacting the Security Risk Management Control Room at 011 490 7900 or 011 490 7911, or via WhatsApp at 083 579 4497.
Penalties
Unaudited or faulty meters may lead to disconnections, with fines up to R14,000 for single-phase connections and over R30,000 for three-phase connections, plus reconnection fees.
Safety
Be cautious of imposters. Report suspicious activity to the Control Room and check with your ward councillor to confirm scheduled work.
Indigent households earning R7,503.01 or less monthly will have an opportunity to register for the Expanded Social Package (ESP) or Free Basic Electricity (FBE, 50kWh) to avoid service charges.
