The City of Johannesburg’s Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Development Planning, Cllr Eunice Mgcina, led a Community Mall Activation Outreach Programme at Kaalfontein Corner on Friday, 31 October 2025.

The purpose of the outreach was to educate and inform the community of KAE about the various services offered by the Department of Development Planning.

Among the services showcased were car licensing offerings and other key municipal services that residents often travel far to access.

The Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO) was also present, engaging with residents about affordable rental and social housing opportunities available across the City of Johannesburg.

In addition, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) together with Development Planning officials conducted an operation to remove unauthorised trading structures near the Kaalfontein Corner Mall.

This enforcement action forms part of the City’s ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with by-laws and to promote a safe, clean, and well-regulated trading environment for both formal and informal traders.

The City reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with communities such as Kaalfontein, Allandale, and Ebony Park to improve access to services and uphold law and order in public spaces.
