COMMUNITY MOB KILLS SUSPECT FOLLOWING HOUSE ROBBERY SPREE
A coordinated series of house robberies unfolded in Duduza during the early hours of Friday morning, with multiple homes targeted between 23:00 and 00:30.
According to community members, five residences were affected by the violent rampage, with suspects allegedly targeting cash and cellphones while robbing residents at gunpoint.
In at least two instances, residents were shot and seriously injured. One victim is reportedly in critical condition in ICU, while another is receiving treatment in hospital.
The incident sparked widespread outrage within the community, prompting residents to mobilize. In an act of mob justice, one suspected robber was apprehended and brutally killed by the community.
At approximately 09:38, police from Ivory Park SAPS responded to a murder complaint. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of an African male lying in a pool of blood. The victim had sustained multiple upper body injuries, allegedly from stoning, and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics. A replica firearm was found next to the body, believed to have been used in the robberies.
POLICE CONFIRM CASES UNDER INVESTIGATION
Ivory Park Police confirmed to KAE News that they have registered a case of three counts of house robbery and attempted murder. They further acknowledged the murder investigation in connection with the mob justice incident.
All relevant role players, including crime scene experts, detectives, and forensic officers, attended the scene of the murder.
Police have appealed to the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, urging anyone with information to come forward as investigations continue.
