CONSTRUCTION WORKS ON PHASE 2 OF THE KAALFONTEIN MULTIPURPOSE CENTRE ENTER FULL THROTTLE!

Exciting progress unfolds as construction on Phase 2 of the Kaalfontein Multipurpose Centre resumes in earnest! The Johannesburg Development Agency spearheads this project on behalf of the City of Johannesburg Community Development Department.

This milestone signifies a substantial leap toward realizing a modern, inclusive facility benefiting Kaalfontein, Ebony Park, and Ivory Park communities. The centre will offer recreational, educational, and developmental spaces.

Section 1 – Completed in September 2023

This phase delivered critical amenities:

• Multi-sport courts

• Spectator grandstand

• Ablution facilities

• Guardhouse

• Caretaker’s quarters

These facilities now provide safe spaces for engaging in sports like soccer, basketball, and swimming – promoting physical wellness, social interaction, and youth development.

Section 2 – Currently Under Construction

Phase 2 features an 806m² state-of-the-art library and learning centre. These facilities will support lifelong learning, digital inclusion, and academic development for learners, job seekers, and community groups needing accessible educational resources.

Phase 2 Completion: Anticipated in the second half of 2025

Upon completion, the 3236m² Kaalfontein Multipurpose Centre will include:

• New double-storey administration building

• Community hall

• Library and learning centre

• Various offices and recreational amenities
