The Tembisa Magistrate’s Court has sentenced two Ivory Park men to 22 years’ imprisonment for the murder of their friend.

Two Ivory Park men have been sentenced to 22 years in prison by the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court for the murder of their friend.

Two (2) Ivory Park men have been sentenced to 22 years’ imprisonment for the murder of their friend, following a case that dates back to December 2019.

The accused, Siyabonga Shange (28) and Lungisani Nthunga (40), assaulted their friend after accusing him of having a romantic relationship with one of their girlfriends.

The victim later succumbed to his injuries at Tembisa Hospital.

A murder case was opened at Ivory Park Police Station and assigned to Detective Warrant Officer Mpho Lithole, who led the investigation.

After committing the crime, the accused fled the province, but returned a few months later, whereupon they were arrested.

Detective Warrant Officer Lithole ensured that the accused were denied bail throughout the trial.

On 19 March 2026, the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court found both accused guilty and sentenced them to 22 years’ imprisonment.

Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole, commended the dedication of Detective Warrant Officer Lithole, stating that such efforts ensure that criminals have no space to operate in the Ekurhuleni District.
