JB MATABANE TOP PERFORMING SCHOOL IN KAE, AGAIN
JB Matabane Secondary School in Ivory Park is the best performing school in Kaalfontein, Allandale, Ebony Park (KAE) and surrounding areas of Ivory Park and Rabie Ridge for the second year in a row.
The school was the top performing school in the 2021 academic year and is also the top performing school in the 2022 academic years. The school had a matric pass rate of 86,6% for 2022 an improvement of 0,5% compared to 2021.
The matric results were announced by the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga on Thursday night. Gauteng Province managed to garner an 84,4% matric pass rate overall which is an increase of 1,6% from 2021.
David Makhubo was the most improved school in KAE moving from Number 6 last year to becoming this year’s second placed school. The school in Kaalfontein improved by 8,3%.
It is worth noting that several schools in the area saw significant decreases in their pass rates from last year. Ponelopele Oracle Secondary School’s pass rate decreased by 4.1%, and Ivory Park Secondary School’s pass rate decreased by a disappointing 10.5%. Allandridge Secondary School in Rabie Ridge also saw a notable decrease, with a pass rate of 62.8% compared to last year’s 71.6%.
Ivory Park Secondary School decreased its performance from 84,9% in 2021 to 74,4% in 2022. The school is now sixth in KAE and surrounding areas after being the best performing school in the 2020 academic year.
Kaalfontein Secondary School was the worst performing school in 2022. The school only received a 55,1% matric pass rate. The 2021 worst performing school was Eqinisweni Secondary School in Ivory Park. The school moved from last to seventh. It increased its own pass rate by 3,2%.

- IVORY PARK SECONDARY SCHOOL 74,4% (84.9%)
- EQINISWENI SECONDARY SCHOOL 65,3% (62.1%)
- ALLANRIDGE SECONDARY SCHOOL 62,8% (71.6%)
- KAALFONTEIN SECONDARY SCHOOL 55,1% (67.8%)
*The percentage in brackets relates to the Matric Pass rate of the 2021 academic year.
