Johannesburg Water technicians have been busy throughout the afternoon repairing the burst 450mm water pipe in Ivory Park, at the corner of Freedom Drive and 2nd October Street.

Repairs have been completed, as many residents in Kaalfontein, Ivory Park, and Ebony Park have confirmed to have water.

In addition to the burst pipe, Johannesburg Water had announced a water throttling schedule set to begin at 19:00 this evening to manage reservoir levels. However, it’s not yet clear whether the KAE area will be spared from throttling, given that taps have already been dry since Thursday.

KAE News will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as soon as new information is available.

UPDATE 19:25: Johannesburg Water says “The team is monitoring reservoir levels at President Park, which are currently still building to adequate levels. To build capacity, the reservoir outlet will remain closed overnight and reopened at approximately 04:00 tomorrow morning.

Once supply has been restored, it may take a couple of hours for the system to fully recharge and normalize.”
