LOADSHEDDING SUSPENDED THIS WEEKEND: STABLE SUPPLY RETURNS

Eskom has officially suspended loadshedding as of 22:00 on Thursday, 15 May 2025, bringing much-needed relief to KAE.

Thanks to improved generation capacity, 1 175MW has already been restored, with an additional 1 850MW expected to come online before Friday evening’s peak. These positive developments are helping to stabilise the national power grid and reduce the need for rotational blackouts.

Eskom attributes the progress to ongoing efforts in restoring generation units and managing emergency reserves wisely.

“We recognise the inconvenience caused and remain committed to ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply,” Eskom said in a statement.

The power utility also highlighted that loadshedding incidents have significantly decreased compared to previous years, and dedicated teams continue working to strengthen grid reliability.

No loadshedding is expected this weekend.
