RAPIST SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR 2019 ATTACK ON 12-YEAR-OLD IN TEMBISA
On 10 June 2019, the accused David Langeni found a 12-year-old victim at her home after school. He called her, but the victim told him that she is busy, she would see him later. The accused forcefully grabbed her and dragged her to his room at Umnonjaneni Section, Tembisa South, and raped her.
The case was registered at Tembisa South SAPS on 17 January 2020, and assigned to Warrant Officer William Shiahikane Maela of Tembisa Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit, who investigated the case diligently and managed to convince the Magistrate through information he submitted at the Magistrate’s Court.
On 04 July 2025, David Langeni was found guilty by the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole has expressed pride to the dedication demonstrated by Warrant Officer Maela and his crew, in securing such a heavy sentence to restore community trust.
