DULCIE SEPTEMBER PRIMARY: LEARNERS TO RETURN ON AUGUST 4TH AMID CONSTRUCTION

In a letter sent to parents and guardians on 29 July 2025, the school confirmed the return date, stating the decision was made “in consideration of the safety of our learners, staff and all our clients.” The announcement after reported learning disruptions and poor communication from school management.

Concerns from parents had been mounting, especially after a learner sustained an ear injury while playing at the school amidst construction activity.

According to parents, they were initially assured that the refurbishment would not interfere with learning. However, learners were reportedly being sent home as early as 9:00, sparking outrage and confusion.

The school has since admitted that the relocation and construction process is not yet fully complete. Principal D.K. Kekana issued an apology on behalf of the school, citing “inconveniences caused and miscommunication that took place.”

The Gauteng Department of Education is yet to respond publicly to the situation, but pressure is mounting for stronger oversight to ensure learner safety and transparency moving forward.

Learners and parents are advised to prepare for the school’s reopening on 4 August, while staying alert for any new developments.
