ATM BOMBED IN WINNIE
An ATM at the Winnie Mandela Civic Centre in Tembisa was bombed by two (2) unknown armed suspects during the early hours of Saturday morning, 18 October 2025.
According to Tembisa SAPS, officers responded to a complaint of an ATM bombing at the civic centre. Upon arrival, police found four (4) security officers at the scene.
The security guards alleged that they were inside the guard room when the unknown African males forced the door open, pointed firearms at them, and ordered them to lie down. The suspects allegedly disarmed the guards, taking two firearms before proceeding to the ATM area.
A few minutes later, the security officers reported hearing the sound of a grinder, followed by a loud explosion. It was later discovered that the ATM had been blown open, and an undisclosed amount of money had been stolen.
“No arrests have been made at this stage,” said Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the Ekurhuleni SAPS District Spokesperson.
Police investigations are ongoing.
