You have probably seen more police cars than usual in KAE neh?

That’s because the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Fannie Masemola, has ordered an all-out mobilisation of resources to track down the killers of two (2) Ivory Park police officers who were gunned down on Friday evening.

The officers a Sergeant and a Constable, both attached to Ivory Park SAPS were conducting crime-prevention patrols in Ivory Park Ext 9 when they were ambushed and fatally shot by unknown suspects.

The attackers fled with 2 pistols, an R5 rifle and the deceased cops cellphones

Following a site visit on Friday night, Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lt-Gen Tommy Mthombeni has assembled a specialised investigative team, including elite units, to hunt down the suspects and recover the stolen state firearms.

General Masemola condemned the continuous attacks on police officers, saying these crimes are “an attack on the authority of the state.”

“Between 01 April and 30 September 2025, the SAPS lost six members killed in the line of duty. We are doing everything possible to ensure members are operationally ready. To all our law enforcement officers: do not die with the resources that we have given you. Be vigilant and act decisively when your life or the lives of communities are under threat,” said General Masemola.
