The suspect linked to the triple murder and police shooting in Rabie Ridge has died after reportedly taking his own life near Rustenburg.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Friday morning, bringing an end to the manhunt that had been launched by police.
Police have confirmed that the eight-year-old child, who was taken by the suspect during the incident, has been found safe and unharmed.
It is understood that the child was at school on Friday, easing fears about their safety.
The deceased suspect, reportedly known as “Venda Man”, had been wanted in connection with the shooting.
Reports suggest that the suspect had been experiencing relationship issues, which may have contributed to the tragic events.
The incident took place on Friday morning, 17 April 2026, in Kanana Extension 4, Rabie Ridge.
The suspect allegedly went to his girlfriend’s home where an argument broke out. He then allegedly shot and killed his 37-year-old girlfriend.
As he left the house, he allegedly shot and killed her uncle and a neighbour. The girlfriend’s aunt was also shot and injured and taken to hospital
While fleeing, the suspect allegedly opened fire on a police patrol vehicle, injuring a female police officer.
He then fled with the child, triggering a widespread manhunt.
Police investigations into the case are ongoing.
