TRIPLE MURDER AND POLICE SHOOTING IN RABIE RIDGE, SUSPECT ON THE RUN
Three people were killed and a police officer injured in a Rabie Ridge shooting. The suspect fled with a child and is still being sought by police.
Police in Rabie Ridge have launched a manhunt for a 38-year-old suspect following a triple murder and shooting of a police officer in Kanana Extension 4.
The incident occurred on Friday morning, 17 April 2026, shortly after 06:00.
According to SAPS, the suspect, a security guard armed with a licensed firearm, allegedly went to his girlfriend’s home where an argument broke out.
The suspect allegedly shot and killed his 37-year-old girlfriend.
As he left the house, he allegedly shot and killed the girlfriend’s uncle and a neighbour.
The girlfriend’s aunt sustained a gunshot wound to the lower body and was rushed to hospital.
Police say the suspect then took the couple’s eight-year-old child and fled the scene.
While on the run, the suspect allegedly encountered a Rabie Ridge police patrol vehicle and opened fire.
A female police officer was shot and sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The suspect remains at large, and police have appealed to the public for assistance.
