SAPS APPEALS FOR HELP TO IDENTIFY DECEASED MAN

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is appealing to the public to assist in identifying and locating the family of a deceased man before he is laid to rest in a pauper’s burial.

According to Sebenza SAPS, the body of a 62-year-old man was found in an open veld next to Modderfontein Road on 21 November 2024. An identity document bearing the name Themba Phineas Gumede was found in his possession.

Despite investigations, the deceased has not yet been positively identified by relatives, and his body remains at the Germiston Mortuary.

Police are urging anyone who may know the deceased or his family to come forward.
