SASSA ANNOUNCES GRANT INCREASES FROM OCTOBER
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that all social grant beneficiaries will see an increase in their payments from October 2025. This follows Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana’s Budget Speech earlier this year.
From 1 October 2025, grants will go up by R10 as follows:
- Old Age Grant will increase from R2 310 to R2 320
- Old Age Grant (over 75 years) will increase from R2 330 to R2 340
- War Veterans Grant will increase from R2 330 to R2 340
- Disability Grant will increase from R2 310 to R2 320
- Care Dependency Grant will increase from R2 310 to R2 320
Why the Increase Matters
SASSA CEO, Mr. Themba Matlou, welcomed the adjustment, saying the increase is an important safety net for vulnerable South Africans facing tough economic conditions.
“This reaffirms government’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society, easing financial burden and cushioning them against economic hardships,” Matlou said.
October 2025 Payment Dates
SASSA also released the official payment dates for October:
- Old Age Grants – Thursday, 2 October 2025
- Disability Grants – Friday, 3 October 2025
- Children’s Grants – Monday, 6 October 2025
SASSA reassured beneficiaries that payments will continue without interruption and that all eligible recipients will receive their grants on time.
