On Thursday, 22 May 2025, a major breakthrough in a kidnapping case unfolded as a 54-year-old bank executive who was reported missing in Edenvale was safely rescued during a high-risk, multi-location operation.

The dramatic recovery began when the victim’s blood-stained vehicle was discovered abandoned in Ivory Park. Investigative leads quickly pointed to a larger operation, and officers intensified their efforts.

One suspect was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport as he attempted to flee. He was found in possession of the victim’s phone and a significant amount of money believed to have been transferred from the victim’s account.

The operation continued with a raid in Tembisa, where three more suspects were apprehended. Stolen vehicles were recovered during this phase of the operation.

A second raid at another location led to the rescue of two additional victims — one of whom had been kidnapped in a hijacking. A fifth suspect was arrested at the scene. Shortly afterward, a third victim was also located and successfully reunited with their family.

All rescued individuals received medical attention and support. Forensic teams were deployed to process the scenes for further investigation.

KAE News applauds the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and supporting units involved in the successful rescue and arrest of the suspects. Investigations are ongoing.
