With Local Government Elections coming up next year, Mafunise’s comment hits right at the heart of what many in the community are thinking.

KAE residents have been facing daily water outages and ongoing load reduction, challenges that continue to test the patience of even the most loyal voters. Eskom says load reduction will end by 2027, but for many households, that feels like a lifetime away.

The question isn’t just about politics, it’s about accountability, service delivery, and trust. After years of promises, can residents still rely on the ANC-led government to fix the issues that affect their daily lives? Or is it time for change at the local level?
