JOY IN IVORY PARK AS POWER IS SWITCHED ON
Premier Lesufi Leads Transformer Switch-On in Sisonke Section
There was an overwhelming sense of joy and celebration in Sisonke Section, Ivory Park, on Friday afternoon as electricity was officially switched on to the area.
The power switch-on was led by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi as part of the “Operation Khanyisa iGauteng” campaign, aimed at switching on power and dignity to communities.
Residents of Ward 133 came out in numbers to witness the symbolic and long-awaited moment. Cheers erupted as the transformer was switched on, bringing light for the first time to homes.
“This is the day we’ve been praying for,” said a jubilant local resident. “We thank Premier Lesufi and everyone involved for hearing our cries.”
Premier Lesufi urged residents to protect the newly installed infrastructure and to refrain from illegal connections that cause transformers to fail.
The power in Sisonke Section is expected to make a significant difference in daily life bringing relief to households, small businesses, and learners who depend on electricity for studying.
With more transformer installations planned across Gauteng, the government has made it clear that it will continue to act decisively against those who sabotage service delivery.
For the people of Ivory Park’s Sisonke Section, Friday marked more than just the the welcome of power it was also the return of hope.
