PROTESTORS VS TAXI DRIVERS: CHAOS IN IVORY PARK, TWO SHOT
Violence broke out in Ivory Park Extension 2 on Thursday morning, 11 September 2025, as a community protest over water shortages turned violent.
According to witnesses, two male protesters were allegedly shot during clashes with taxi drivers who attempted to force their way through barricaded roads. One man was reportedly shot in the spinal cord, while another was shot in the mouth. Both were rushed to hospital by residents.
Shocking scenes unfolded as there was no visible police presence at the time of the shootings, leaving the community in fear and outrage.
All schools in the area were forced to close amid the chaos. At Ebony Park Primary, anxious parents arrived to fetch their children, concerned for their safety.
The water crisis has left many parts of Ivory Park without supply for weeks, fuelling anger and desperation. Thursday’s shootings have intensified tensions, with residents demanding urgent intervention.
Authorities have not yet issued a statement on the shootings. The situation in Ivory Park remains volatile.
