RAND WATER MAINTENANCE TO AFFECT MIDRAND SYSTEM FROM 29 MAY TO 2 JUNE
Residents in KAE, Midrand, Ivory Park, Ebony Park, Rabie Ridge, Kaalfontein and surrounding areas are urged to prepare for water supply interruptions as Rand Water embarks on major planned maintenance from Friday, 29 May until Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
Johannesburg Water confirmed that the Midrand System will be affected during this Phase One maintenance period.
According to the schedule:
- On 29 May from 07:00 until 19:00, there will be no pumping from the Palmiet System for 12 hours.
- From 30 May until 2 June, pumping will operate at reduced capacity before returning to 100% on the evening of 2 June.
Areas under the Midrand system that will experience low pressure or no water include:
- Ivory Park
- Ebony Park
- Kaalfontein
- Rabie Ridge
- Glen Austin
- President Park
- Halfway House
- Noordwyk
- Allandale
- Midridge Park
- Erand
- Vorna Valley
- Blue Hills
- Carlswald
and many surrounding areas.
Residents will remember the last major maintenance period earlier this year which resulted in panic, long water outages and delayed recovery in many communities. KAE News warns that full recovery may take several days after maintenance is completed.
We urge residents to prepare as soon as possible:
- Store enough clean water for drinking and cooking
- Fill buckets and containers before Friday
- Use water sparingly
- Avoid unnecessary water usage before and during the maintenance period
Johannesburg Water says alternative water supply through tankers will be provided in affected areas where necessary.
Residents are encouraged to remain calm, prepare early and continue following KAE News for updates throughout the maintenance period.
