MBALULA SAYS KAALFONTEIN NAME MUST BE CHANGED

ANC Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula, hit the ground in Zone 15, Ward 92 – covering Kaalfontein, Allandale and Ebony Park (KAE) on the 3rd of September 2026.

Part of the programme included Door-to Door at Kaalfontein Ext 23, Sedi Laka Primary School Voting District and a Community Meeting at David Makhubo Secondary School, Kaalfontein.

The ANC SG was accompanied by Regional Secretary Sasabona Manganye.

“We need to change the name of this area from Kaalfontein to something better such as David Makhubo. This Kaalfontein name is a colonial name.” said Mbalula.

Kaalfontein is an Afrikaans name meaning “bare fountain” after the Kaalspruit River stream which passes the area.

The ANC’s councillor candidate for Ward 92 is the former ward councillor Violet Chauke. She was the councillor between 2016 and 2021.
