ARMSTA CHAIRMAN SHOT DEAD IN MARLBORO, BODYGUARD ALSO KILLED, TWO INJURED
The Chairman of the Alexandra Randburg Midrand Taxi Association (ARMSTA), Victor Molefe Moekeletsi, was shot and killed in Marlboro on Thursday, 30 October 2025.
According to reports, Moekeletsi was travelling with his bodyguards when unknown gunmen opened fire. His bodyguard died on the scene, while another bodyguard and a motorist were rushed to hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds.
A getaway vehicle believed to have been used by the assailants was later found abandoned near Setjwetla, with visible bloodstains inside.
The shooting took place less than a minute away from the Alexandra Taxi Association (ATA) offices, in what is suspected as a targeted hit.
This incident comes just a month after taxi industry leaders publicly declared peace, ending decades of violent turf wars. The peace pledge was made on 19 September 2025 during a Taxi Peace Event held at Kwa-Bhekilanga Sports Grounds in Alexandra.
A few years ago, Moekeletsi survived another attack after armed thugs torched more than ten of his Quantum taxis at his Marlboro residence.
At the time of publishing, no arrests have been made, and police investigations are ongoing.
