FIVE PEOPLE KILLED IN FREEWAY CRASH

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has confirmed a major accident on the N1 North freeway that has claimed five (5) lives.

The fatal crash occurred on Wednesday between the Buccleuch Interchange and Allandale Road in Midrand when a minibus taxi overturned.

Emergency services and law enforcement officials are currently on the scene. Several passengers sustained injuries and are receiving medical attention.

Traffic is severely affected, with heavy congestion reported in both directions. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and plan for major delays.

The JMPD has urged drivers to remain patient, follow instructions from officers, and exercise extreme caution when approaching the affected area.

This was near same spot a taxi traveling from Ivory Park 3 to Johannesburg was involved in a fatal accident on the 18th of August 2019. . Nine people were certified dead.
