LETTER TO THE EDITOR: EBONY PARK IS NO LONGER SAFE
A reader wrote to KAE News expressing concern and fright about the levels of the increasing crime rate in Ebony Park in Midrand.
Letter to the Editor
“Ebony Park no longer feels safe. Almost every night, especially in the early morning hours, we are woken by what sounds like gunshots. This has become our reality, and it is terrifying.
In Extension 5, along the main road, some residents wake up to find bullets on their gates. Imagine living with the fear that the next bullet could enter someone’s home and take an innocent life. What if it hits a child? What if it strikes someone while they are sleeping? This is a real and heartbreaking fear we live with every day.
We do not know whether people are recklessly firing firearms or if robberies and other violent crimes are taking place around us, but either way our lives are at risk.
We are scared.
We are exhausted.
And we are asking for help.
Are we still safe in the streets of Ebony Park?
Will the community leadership and law enforcement act before it is too late?
Please, this situation needs urgent attention. We cannot wait for someone to lose their life before action is taken.”
