UNLICENSED FIREARMS AND SANDF UNIFORM SEIZED IN ALEXANDRA TAVERN RAID
In a joint operation involving Alexandra VISPOL Crime Prevention, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, and several private security companies, officers carried out routine stop-and-search patrols in Alexandra.
During the operation, a local tavern drew suspicion when its interior lights were switched off immediately after the police arrived. Upon searching the premises, officers discovered:
• Multiple unlicensed firearms
• A high-caliber rifle
• Live ammunition
One suspect was arrested on the scene for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. In addition, the suspect was found in possession of a South African National Defence Force (SANDF) uniform, resulting in an extra charge of impersonating an SANDF member.
Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that more arrests are expected as part of the operation.
