The water protest action in Ebony Park has been called off after two days of disruptions. By Wednesday afternoon, most roads around KAE had been cleared of rocks and debris, and traffic is slowly returning to normal.

Johannesburg MMC for Infrastructure, Jack Sekwaila, attempted to address demonstrators but had to abandon his speech after tempers flared. Sekwaila announced that water tankers and JoJo tanks would be deployed to affected areas, a solution that angered residents, who insist on running water in their taps, not temporary fixes.

Community leader Cedric Tshirundu confirmed to KAE News that the strike is over and encouraged residents to return to work and schools on Thursday.

However, as of this update, water supply has not yet been restored in KAE. Furthermore, water throttling is schedule for Thursday, 11 September 2025.

This remains a developing story, and KAE News will continue to provide updates.
