RAMAPHOSA ANNOUNCES 4 NOVEMBER 2026 AS LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION DAY
President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially announced that the Local Government Elections will take place on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
The announcement marks a major step in the country’s election calendar, with preparations now moving into full swing ahead of voting day.
Key dates to note
Residents are encouraged to take note of the following important milestones:
- National Election Campaign launch — 27 May 2026
- Voter Registration Weekend — 20–21 June 2026
- Election Day — 4 November 2026
The Local Government Elections will determine ward councillors and municipal leadership, who are responsible for key service delivery issues in communities, including:
- water
- electricity
- roads
- housing
- community development
