EKURHULENI LAUNCHES “SIVALA AMAPOTHOLE” TO FIX ROADS IN TEMBISA
The City of Ekurhuleni has launched a pothole repair programme in Tembisa aimed at improving roads, safety and service delivery.
Residents in Tembisa have long raised concerns about potholes and damaged roads, and the City of Ekurhuleni has now responded with a dedicated repair programme.
The City of Ekurhuleni has taken a hands-on approach to service delivery with the launch of Operation “Sivala AmaPothole” on 01 April 2026.
The initiative was led by Executive Mayor Nkosindiphindile Xhakaza together with MMC for Roads and Transport Planning Lindiwe Mnguni, focusing on fixing potholes and clearing blocked stormwater drainage systems.
The programme aims to improve road safety, prevent flooding and enhance daily living conditions for residents across Tembisa.
Roads teams were deployed to patch potholes near Inxiweni Primary School and repair damaged sections at the corner of Magagula and Ngema streets.
On Thursday, teams also completed road markings on Brian Mazibuko Drive, a key route linking Sangweni Taxi Rank to Emfihlweni.
Mayor Xhakaza confirmed that this is not a once-off intervention but part of a broader rollout across the city.
The “Sivala AmaPothole” programme is expected to expand to other areas in Ekurhuleni as the City intensifies efforts to address road infrastructure challenges.
The City has indicated that similar interventions will be rolled out across other parts of Ekurhuleni in the coming weeks.
