BREAKING NEWS: ONE SUSPECT KILLED IN SHOOTOUT WITH GAUTENG HIGHWAY PATROL IN MIDRAND
A business robbery suspect was killed in Midrand during a shootout with police while two others were arrested and a firearm recovered.
One (1) suspect has been shot and killed, while two (2) others were arrested, following a shootout with Gauteng Highway Patrol officers on Allandale Road in Midrand on Friday, 30 January 2026.
Police were responding to a lookout for a blue Hyundai i20 allegedly linked to a business robbery in Olivenhoutbosch when officers intercepted the vehicle. A confrontation ensued, leading to a shootout.
During the incident, one suspect was fatally wounded and declared dead at the scene. Two additional suspects were arrested. Police also recovered one firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be linked to the robbery.
Law enforcement agencies remain on the scene as investigations continue.
Motorists are advised to expect heavy traffic delays along Allandale Road and to use alternative routes where possible.
